Topovoros is the Greek translation of the neologism locavore — a term for people who consume only locally produced food. Topovoros Books is a non-profit publishing initiative that curates a catalogue of significant contemporary texts in Greek translation, and is the publishing imprint of Echo Chamber. The imprint operates by the same logic its name suggests: its books are designed, printed, bound, and distributed exclusively within the neighbourhood of Exarchia, Athens — a strictly local approach to the circulation of knowledge and ideas. Topovoros has worked with publishers including La Fabrique, Zones, Divergences, Verticales, La Découverte, L'insomniaque, Les Prairies Ordinaires, Éditions Amsterdam, Éditions du Seuil, Verso Books, MIT Press, Polity Press, Pluto Press, University of Minnesota Press, Columbia University Press, and NERO Editions, with translation rights and titles drawn from across French-, English-, and Italian-language scholarly and independent presses.
